This is excellant Elizabeth. At first I did not even realize this was a sculpture. It is a very sad work and you captured the mood of it very well. Faved.
Although I know it's a sculpture, I'm glad however that I'm not the one who was captured, lol.
Very good photograph Elizabeth as it brings over a certain, but hard to define, atmosphere. Well done.
Regards, Cornelius
An emotional time in our nations history,an still not forgoten MIA/POWs I havent seen this before, but I do like how you captured it A very good piece of work for the Doors contest, I wish you the best
This is a stunning shot of the POW sculpture. It look very real in your picture. Perfect lighting, and the mood is thought provoking. Excellent post, E.
It is very realistic.
This is such a powerfully thought-provoking image and although it is a specific POW exhibit it does convey a universal feeling of incarceration and hopelessness. A feeling that is felt by many in this world even without the prison walls.
Photo is very well lit and it is a most worthy competition entry.
Good luck Elizabeth :)
Excellent composition and use of black and white. Nice work with the lighting. Still trying to figure out if you photographed a wax character in a mock cell or if you photographed a painting or photograph? Either well it is well done. Great contest entry. anne =D
Critiquing art of any kind is utterly subjective. When I vote on your images, I look at several things. First, my initial gut reaction. Then, is it straight (if it should be); is the color correct or if intentionally saturated or desaturated, was it done properly and does it enhance the image; composition - if you intended a bulls-eye, unless it's an outstanding image that is really served by centering the subject, it'll get dinged; is the horizon dead center - again, unless there's an obvious reason that makes it a better photo, no points; is the subject interesting and uncluttered; is the image sharp; is the depth of field right for this composition, is there a catchlight in the creature's eye; would I hang this on my wall; is it an image I'd be proud to display; is it artistic or just a snapshot; does it move me; is there a message conveyed; is it documentary in nature and if so, does it tell the story in such a way it makes me want more. When I critique a photo in your gallery, I'm only suggesting what my subjective nature prefers. No need to defend your position if you like your image the way it is. If you give me constructive criticism on my pieces, I guarantee you I will take them to heart. I love to improve! Bring it on Caedians! Love, anne =D
Elizabeth
This is a very different picture for you. It sets a mood in B&W. I guess since it is a sculpture of sorts you put it in the right category. The link was a good idea and fills in the story behind this exhibit! A very well done image.

Sculpture would be the best gallery for it, Liz. This guy looks like he's in the Hanoi Hilton, in which case, that is one menacing door, and one with a real story behind it. Good luck with the contest.
What a most expressive photo! The feeling it brings out for total desolation and loneliness and paid are so amazing. Whoever sculpted that certainly did a magnificent job. To see the bandage on the mans leg and the arm sling and the sad painful feeling on his face sure touches one. Then to see the prison door too, well, the whole compostion is very great.Verena
Q: Why did the blonde get so excited after she finished her jigsaw puzzle in only 6 months?
A: Because on the box it said From 2-4 years.
Q: How do you confuse a blonde?
A: Ask her to alphabetize a bag of M&Ms.
Q: Why are dumb blonde jokes so short?
A: So brunettes can remember them.
An excellent exhibit and superbly captured, Elizabeth! I'm especially drawn to the lighting and the shadow of the sculpture's face! And, a wonderful choice for b&w! Very powerful and thought provoking!
