Have been away for a while, thought I would start fresh. This is my first bug with my new macro lens. Not great, it was bad lighting and I had a bit of an exposure problem, as well as hugo moving around doing his thing. Any comments or suggestions please let me know.

I like the general composition of this shot, but there are some things that I think could be improved. I would be nicer if we could clearly see the head of the spider, or otherwise have some distinctive part of him be the subject of the photo, and not him in general. You may also want to watch your DOF, especially if you are not focusing on anything in particular (like this shot). Here I think you could have used a much larger depth of field. My last comment is that the white balance of this shot is off, but that is easily improved.

Other than those, this is a great capture! What type of spider is he?

The entire shot seems indistinct. The background could have been darkened to make it less fuzzy. I think it's an orb spider, but it's difficult to tell.
