If it were mine, I'd be inclined to gently lighten the purple on the foliage farthest from the camera and on the water and a bit of the bank in the foreground. Not eliminate it, just vary the toning a bit so that, as with your purple bridge image, the color here comes to seem to be in the image instead of on the image.
In Photoshop terms, I'm thinking of "gently lighten" as using a soft brush at 6-12% on a quick mask. The base image has a great sense of depth. In its red form, the depth came through pretty well (though were it mine I might help it out just a bit), but the purple toning seems a bit denser and my urge is to retouch it a little to get the depth back.
Hey Adrienne
It needs a Unicorn on the bank, rearing up of coarse! And just a few more mythical creatures here and there and it would be perfect! It really does have a "other Worldly" feel to it. I like it!

Oh this is my favorite type of manipulation (thus far). It may be a little bit too purple for me, but that is just me. When I do this I like to mess around with the saturation afterward. But then again that's just me :)
