Contrary to perceived wisdom, Dracula was not born in Transylvania, but here in the fertile mind of Bram Stoker. These are the ruins of the 11th century Benedictine Abbey at Whitby, Yorkshire, which inspired Stoker to create the character. I could not resist the urge to add Stoker style atmospherics to this image, & I'll post the original shortly. (I have since cleaned the graininess up & will post rework in my next upload slot)

Dark, foreboding, & spooky ... I'm enjoying the atmosphere of this image as I'm a Bram Stoker fan. The dark reflection of the abbey sets off the mood as well. I do notice some noise in the sky ... I use a program called NeatImage for noise removal ... there is a freeware version one can download if you do not have it already. I do I like the contrast in colors. Very well done & the composition looks great.

I like it the way it is! Isn't there supposed to be lots of noise around Dracula's birth place?!! Looking forward to the original though.

Love the HD effect on this scene! I have a feeling the original isn't going to be the equal to this one.

Well Bram Stoker had a few things right and the movie exudes only certain parts of the real Dracula. Mina for one, who flung herself into the river in Transylvania. The river that runs through there is now called the Princess' River. Again, this is awesome and I'd like to know how you took a daylight shot and created this midnight masterpeice.

Just finished reading Dracula and I'd recommend it as a good read. Interesting how all those Hollywood cliches' just spring out of the page in a refreshing and original way. Found it quite the page turner towards the end (predictable, but an enduring yarn). Good to see your picture promoted to the permanent gallery. J.

That writer did certainly not created the character all by himself but he was inspired by the Romanian true story of Dracula. Even the name is all Romanian, it's a form of the Romanian word "drac", wich means "demon", "evil" etc. Excuse me but noone can not take that away from us. Dracula is ours. He was a great Romanian leader. So you can't say that he wasn't born in Romania. (By the way, it's funny how foreigners always ignore the name of our country, wich is Romania, not Transilvania. And for crying out loud, Transilvania is a part of Romania, not Hungary. >__> )
