Macro work is so difficult. The concept here is great, although the focus fades off a little left to right. Is this cropped or is this the actual shot? If you cropped it, try backing the crop out just a bit. The extra white from the shells will highlight your find even more, and perhaps help the focus issue become less noticeable. A+ for effort, love the composition and colors!
"'Life is not a journey to the grave with the
intention of arriving safely in a pretty
and well preserved body,
but rather to skid in broadside,
thoroughly used up,
totally worn out,
and loudly proclaiming,
"WOW! What a ride!"'
God's magnificent creation is full of beauty waiting to be captured - when you think you've seen it all, something you've never seen comes up and amazes you.

I also find the rust & deep blue colors pleasing also. It's already been mentioned about the focus being soft, so I would like to add when composing an image to try different angles on your subject. Then go from there. It's a great concept & I happen to be a seashell collector. Beautiful capture Beth.
Beth...I love this shell, and especially your use of white shells around it for framing. If you like the subject as you cropped it, you could try going into a post-photo utility (Photofiltre is free, but not as powerful as something like PhotoShop), sharpening it just a tad, and then adding a white outside frame.
