Okay. Here goes, Frank. Keeping in mind that I'm an avid devil worshiping Satanist who dates witches, I think you will have no problem with this shot in the Black and White Challenge...unless the other judges are also devil worshiping Satanists.

That being said, I really like this shot. The composition is spot on from what I can tell. The focus is a little soft in places which is a forgivable sin (note that I'm continuing with the religious theme). I studied this shot (as well as The Book) closely and noticed a solid gray line that runs from the tip of the left page to and along the left thumb. My photos invariably have all sorts of weird colors that come from nowhere, white edges that appear for some unknown reason and other little peccadilloes. I'm not sure what caused that, but it's a minor problem that just confounds me.

If you figure that one out, let me know. It's sure to show up in one of my shots eventually. Good luck in the contest and it's good to be in touch again. Your work has improved mightily over the years.

Another beauty for the BWC - thank you Frank. Nicely done.

I believe this must be a traveller or a travelling preacher as I see a zip on the Bible cover.
Also notice he is reading about John the Baptist. "And the crowds asked him, 'What then should we do?' In reply he said to them, 'Whoever has two coats must share with anyone who has none; and whoever has food must do likewise' "
Luke3:10,11

Amen to that :)

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

A thought provoking B&W shot, Frank.
Good entry for the Wednesday B&W challenge. I appreciate Lyn's research above.

Creative work, Frank. I like the image, effectively presented in b/w.
