This reminds me of the sun itself, Joe, and the clarity is breathtaking! Was this a very large palm or do you use a macro lens? - Patty

This is a small palm plant about a yard in diameter and a few inches off the ground. Shot at a slight angle looking down with my digital SLR camera at the 55mm zoom setting. Did not need a macro for this one.

WOW Joe, that must have been a large Sago Palm. It's so clear and each frawn shown in such clarity. What a wonderful photo.

That is definently gallery quality. Works lovely for a desktop background or anything. Good thinking about the choice of your composition.

I have King Sagos in my yard (Florida) and did some research about them. Interesting plants, virtually unchanged since plants began. Threatened by the Asian Cycad Scale -- tiny white insects that "snuck" into the US on wood pallets and are now spreading like wildfire across the southern states. Your excellent photo shows this particular plant is still uninfested! If it was my photo, I might take the time to carefully clone out the touches of purple in the left portion, which are only slightly distracting, but that's being really nit-picky.

Good detail here - it kind of resembles a sea anemone. I like the green and pale brown - they go well together!
