This is a small palm plant about a yard in diameter and a few inches off the ground. Shot at a slight angle looking down with my digital SLR camera at the 55mm zoom setting. Did not need a macro for this one.
I have King Sagos in my yard (Florida) and did some research about them. Interesting plants, virtually unchanged since plants began. Threatened by the Asian Cycad Scale -- tiny white insects that "snuck" into the US on wood pallets and are now spreading like wildfire across the southern states. Your excellent photo shows this particular plant is still uninfested! If it was my photo, I might take the time to carefully clone out the touches of purple in the left portion, which are only slightly distracting, but that's being really nit-picky.
