Since 1562 on the plaza "Am Hof" those two contemporary houses No 9 and 10. By the middle of the 16th century water wagons and fire equipment were stored here and it was the bureau of the first four firemen of Vienna.
Lorenzo Matielli made above the portal the attic with two sculptures ("Insistence and Force") which carry a gold plated globe.

You must never tire of looking up in your city! That is what they told me to do in Prague! Keep looking up because the statues and architecture are amazing. So when I come to Vienna I will do just that! lovely capture Chris! Patti

What a lovely shot; I love how buildings that man creates can be so beautiful to the eye and work so will for the purpose it was designed for. They become a work of art themselves. Great shot!

I looked up the artist that sculpted this and he was quite gifted. It's amazing how great works of art decorate places that the artist would have never dreamed of..nice work on this photo :)

!!!!!!! HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!!!!!

This is fabulous. We have a fire house in Damascus, Oregon but not quite so ornate as that. The statues on the next level are impressive too. I especially like the one with the goose on his helmet. LOL
Your photo is excellent, as always.
