With kind permission of my better half I post this a bit reworked sculpture since Sabine was very sad about the low C-Index. Here's the original.
Nevertheless it's still her photo and all the fame goes out to Blumie :o)

absolutely spot on with the positioning of this statue Chris and it contrasts wonderfully with that blue blue sky! (well done on the capture Sabine!) It will look really good on the desktop, especially as most people have their desktop icons to the left.

I never saw the original so I just compared the two and I must say that this one emphasizes the subject wonderfully but the capture was very beautiful to begin with:)

The clarity of the shot and the colors were definitely there in the original shot (good job Sabine!) but the framing and composition of the shot is much improved in this version. The statue is very nice and now the bit of roof (or whatever it was) no longer distracts. I also prefer the off-center composition, and with the vast blue sky on the left it almost looks like she's moving, heading off into the wild blue yonder. Great team effort, you guys!

because the roof is not there anymore it looks much better because the roof was to much if you comparing these two shots:))

Well, I don't consider a 42 that awful a score, Chris...but I think that you did improve on this for Sabine. The angle and the clarity are all there, but you're right. It's easier to see now and the detail is so good on this interesting statue. I hope it does better, but don't live by the c index alone !!! (I'm preaching to myself in that statement too) LOL ..

For comparison, the composition is like textbook style, just as it is supposed to be.
Simple rules are : never put the object of photography in the middle of the image.
An other rule is: no matter human, animal, car, train, airplane, the longest part of the image, must be away from the eye viewing point of the subject.
All is preformed according to the rules here.
When i saw Sabine's image, my first impression was, the statue is placed to far to the left. But i looked at it for a long time, and thought, f#ck the rules. the right part of the statue started way out right of the middle, so if i take this as a starting base, the image is allright. the more i looked, the more i liked hers. Specialy since i like to through all old rules overboard. (for example, in the past, with decoration, it was a rule not to use black and brown in one setting, like red and orange was also impossible in the same room, nowadays we have left those rules) i think the same must go for photography... Last point, i liked the base of Sabine's image, it clearly showed that it stood on a square base, like a top of a building. grrrr it is difficult to write exactly what you mean in another language, but i tried my best.

I like this one Chris but actually, am quite fond of Sabine's work as well. I like the fact that the base shows in hers. The clear blue background on both of them is equisite and you are both to be congratulated because, IMHO, they are both very well done. Sometimes (sadly) we have to ignore the c-index because the rationale for some of them can't be found. So again, both of you did a great job.

Please know that I enjoy your work even though I don't always get to comment. I try to look at (and enjoy) all your new posts and always appreciate the time you take to stop in at my gallery as well. Have a happy day ;) Anita

Chris this is very nice and I think the orginal was superb. I have learned myself that the c-index can be very dissapointing. Tell Sabine not to let it get her down. Both of these are great and has such meaning. That is the main reason I liked it so much plus the very good presentation. Sandi
