This is the first image ofThe Parade of Sail of The Tall Ships as they left Liverpool today (21st July 2008). Here the 60+ ships are gathering further up The Mersey Estuary before the start of The Parade. The main ship in this picture is from Mexico.

I really enjoyed watching the video in the link. Are you going to Norway or Holland to catch some of the race? These are really impressive ships. I'd love to sail on one of them. Fantastic picture, Steve.

Wonderful and very impressive post Steve. Suppose the first ship is Cuauhtémoc, was built in Bilbao, Spain in 1981 and originally called Celaya. She was later acquired by the Mexican Navy as a training vessel for officers, cadets, petty officers and sailors. Cuauhtemoc sailed the world for thirteen years and in 1995 underwent a major refit. Cuauhtémoc has been the proud winner of the Tall Ships' Races on two occasions.

My childhood dreams were to sail in these!!...I missed the last lot when they were in Tyneside!...so thanks for this viewing pal!

Those Tall ships look great, but I suspect their moving with 21st century diesel power just like the Matthew does occasionally.

The colors of the flags really stand out against the pale blue sky. Tremendous post Steve. I'm looking forward to this series. I enjoyed C's input as well.
