There are at least 4 snakes in this picture. They are Royal Pythons and are each about 2ft (60cm) long. They were shown at a talk Mrs braces and I went to last night on the subject of safe snake keeping. We were able to hold and play with lots of different snakes (all non-venomous). We learnt that once you've got your snake (about £60, $120, Euro 75 for a young one) and vivarium and accessories they are a relatively cheap pet to maintain as the small ones are fed a dead mouse once a week. They are worth more once they have grown and these in this container were each worth £200-£300 each. One of the others was worth £3000 ($6000)!!

I really like this shot. I normally like to see more contrasting colors but i think the closeness of the colors in this shot give it an artistic feel. I might like to see the snake's head placed a bit differently but overall I really like this shot!

BY all means great photograph with stunning composition [any other composition turned impossible ? LOL]
Your way of calculating made me reflect though ...
A dog ca. 50 kg in a vivarium = my apartment ca 50 square metres ... how much would this make considering that one mouse is nothing . ALL IN ALL perhaph I might consider changing Boris for a grown-up python in vivarium + one mouse ...!!! LOL

A remember a friend of my brother who imported reptiles in the post many years ago now.
All reptiles have very special needs, especially for their bones.

Great post Mr Braces fancy buying a snake then ?

Big brother's watching you :o) A mistreated dog should try to leave a deposit on their masters best carpet, after all it's important to establish who's boss ... Welcome to the last resort. :o)

How little faith Owd Timer has in the U.S. members. I'll just let him wonder if I really know. Python's you say. Four of them you say. I would want at least a six-shooter in case I missed. Interesting post Steve.

A very good picture of the snakes but not for my desktop thankyou very much lol
As for keeping one as a pet - ughh. Where does one acquire the dead mice? Separately kept in another container waiting for the chop to provide fresh meat for their Snakeships?
Added to that you can't take a snake for a walk. Imagine it - here snakey snakey, come for a slither.

Is Monty still at Evesham?

Now this has made me shiver. No, I'm not a fan. Great shot mind, but, no, not for my desktop. Interesting to read Lyn Eve's comments, because some guy was arrested recently precisely for trying to take his pythons for a walk in the park on a lead. Ugh the thought.
