After our day on Sunday singing as part of The Visiting Choir (whilst the Cathedral Choir is on holiday) Mrs Braces and I returned to The Liverpool Anglican Cathedral on Monday for The Bank Holiday Organ Recital. This year's organist was Ian Wells, who had been the organist for us the day before. After the wonderful recital I spent some time photographing The Cathedral.

One of the biggest problems, apart from low light levels inside, is trying to show just how massive it is. It's the biggest Cathedral in Britain; the biggest Protestant Cathedral in Europe; the second biggest Protestant Cathedral in The World and the fifth largest Cathedral of any denomination in the world! Mrs Braces actually took this image, that's me sitting on the bench just inside the gate. There will be several more images, both external and internal, to come.

I think this image succeeds in capturing the immensity of the cathedral... I had no idea of its size and importance! Tell Mrs. Braces congratulations on a fine photo. I'm looking forward to more.

Great photo and your getting in the shot added perspective as to size. Love the color of the church. The information was excellent as well. Congrats on the choir.

Having tried in vain to get a good shot of this myself I can appreciate just what a good shot this is - well done Mrs B. The perspective really shows the enormity of it and the colour is spot-on.

I really think you got the sense of size here Steve. This is a great shot. The grey light actually accentuates the red of the sandstone. Did Mrs B get down low for this? If she didn't it looks like she did - the cathedral towers up and the perspective, with the tower rocketing up from the building, is very good.

I agree with the others before me!
This is an absolutely majestic shot of this immense building. You being in it gives an good idea of how big it actually is!
Great work!
