Chester Zoo is keen for people to remember that its full title includes the words Zoological Gardens and that plants, trees and flowers are an important area of its work. This is a cactus photographed in The Growing Zone. A hot house for the Zoo's orchid, cactus and succulent collection.

I hope you enjoy this slightly different Friday Foofy.

Rather a prickly sort but it will save the cactus from the animals and humans. An unusual but good Friday Foofy.

Well you certainly wouldnt want to accidentally sit on this amazing plant. I like how the little flowers are starting to show themselves. Well done!

ooooh My nan used to have one of these things on her parlour window sill. As a kid I think I was a few brain cells loose, coz every single time I would touch and get spines in my finger that had to be picked out. Never learnt lol. ( umm anyone got any tweezers?)

I got this in the VB and liked it. Didn't know it was yours though. great clarity on the cactus stems. I would have considered zooming in on a select few of them for even greater detail rather than the whole pot.
