This is the liner Queen Elizabeth II (The QE II) sailing into The River Mersey for the very last time this morning (3rd October 2008). After she leaves Liverpool tonight at 10.00pm she is due to complete one final cruise and then she starts a new life as a luxury hotel moored off Dubai.

Corny, I know, but the music for this has to be This!

This image was taken on The New Brighton Promenade about half a mile from the ship. Nikon D60 F4.5 1/2000 ISO 200 72mm.

Wow she dwarfs the lighthouse!! I would love to see her, Lyndsey saw her in Liverpool a few years back and got to have a ferry ride around her. Such a beautiful old ship isnt she. This is a lovely capture Steve.

Wow, this is an amazing shot! That is a huge ship, and I would love to have the chance to stay on it when it becomes the hotel, that would be very neat!

A wonderful shot of a real majestic lady of the seas! End of another era of cross-Atlantic voyages. Very clear photo of the Queen sharp in focus. Good job, Steve!

Tiger Woods is even designing a golf course for them. What a sad post this is evetS. I don't think the song was at all corny. Must be tough to lose something like this just for monetary gains. Great post. This shot will always be in your mind's eye.

That's one large, loooonnnng luxury ship... Kinda sad, her farewell tour and all... The lighthouse looks positively tiny next to her...

Gorgeous shot of this beautiful old lady! I like this one better cause you can admire her completely. The birds and the lighthouse are a bonus.
