This is the liner QE II entering The River Mersey for the very last time. She is just passing Fort Perch Rock, New Brighton and you can see the smoke from the cannon giving a ceremonial salute to welcome this Grand Lady of The Sea for the last time.

This image was taken on the morning of 3rd October 2008 from the New Brighton Promenade about half a mile from the ship. Nikon D60 F5.6 1/1250 ISO 200 200mm.

I like the angle you shot this from, and it has great depth to it while still clear. Nice work Steve!

She was often in Hamburg the last few years - for drydocking, repairs etc. and every time received a warm welcome from the people who used to line up to watch her.
Another good shot!

Very nice shot Steve

Regardless of what anyone says or how the C-index reflects this is a classic shot for you to treasure !

It would look great in monochrome too

Bring out your dead :o) A mistreated dog should try to leave a deposit on their masters best carpet, after all it's important to establish who's boss ... Do the Wall Street shuffle.

This one is not as sad evetS. It is a great shot and shows how much it means to others as they are saying farewell with you. Very nice photo.

Very beautiful shot with nice perspective! Looks like you was not the only one interested in seeing her for the last time.

What a pity it's being taken out of commission, QE2 has been synonymous with decadence and class on the ocean wave all through my life. I like what you did here, the perspective is inspired.

Another great shot of the ship. My parents had a picture of QE I in the house when I was growing up. I was fascinated with it. My father was from London.
