There were three swans on the New Brighton Model Boating Lake and two of them continually hounded (if swans can hound?) this poor one off the water. Somebody was obviously very worried about this swan and had contacted the RSPCA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals). One of their inspectors arrived and started to make friends with this outcast.

good shot Steve and I do hope he/she will be ok. Perhaps it's a young one from that pair and they are trying to get it to be on it's own. ?? =^^= Sandi

The best you can do for the poor swan is to find him/her a mate. We have a boat here in Hamburg in the lake Alster with the bow shaped and painted like a swan. One swan fell in love with it and followed the boat all the time although the wooden swan is more than double the normal size! Good shot of the poor outcast!

Poor thing being bullied by the others.

I have had sick or sad birds in my care once or twice and have called the RSPB ( for the care of birds) and they were never interested, BUT the RSPCA have always been amazing when I have had dealings with them, even coming out to a little robin that couldnt fly. The Robin had crash landed really badly hurting his wing, but the RSPB wouldnt come out at all, and so we tried the RSPCA, they were there within quarter an hour and the gentleman was so sweet with the bird. It just hopped right into his hand and sat there so comfy that he actually called another officer to come and drive for him so the bird wouldnt be disturbed.

This is a very lovely shot U Steve, bittersweet. xx

I see it is in a band. I haven't heard of CP56 but I hear they have a song that is destined to make the charts. I will tell Don Bull Frog about this situation. I am sure he can take care of the bullies.

Nice post evetS.

It can't be easy being a swan. Eating slime and algae, living out in the cold and getting henpecked like this. Someone should tell the Queen - she owns them all doesn't she!

This image did not fly, even tho it is perfectly focused and has perfect exposure. Why? We need to see the head and the eyes for this image to have life.
