As I was photographing in Royden Park last week I was surprised when this dog lumbered up to me. He was quickly followed by a young lady who appeared to be his owner and also appeared to be about half his size! "Don't worry", she said wearing a strained smile, "He's a gentle giant and wouldn't hurt a fly! His name is Ben and he's a Neapolitan Mastiff."
"Flies he leaves alone",thought I,"but what about photographers? I might be just right for a mid-afternoon snack!"
Exit photographer, Stage Right.

That's one wrinkled dog. He does look friendly Steve. Such a wonderful action capture coming up to you. I know this breed of dog does have skin problems due to all the wrinkles.

Looking at this Neopolitan Mastiff I can't help but think of grey suede shoes !
No disrespect meant to Ben honest Steve I love those wrinkles.
He'll make a fine companion in the Pets, or Community galleries but the moggies will have to watch out. Lol

Here the saying goes : "He only wants to play!" You did right - I don't trust the looks of Ben. But you did get a good shot of Ben with the "lovely coat".

I know a lot of people who own these dogs, and they truely are gentle giants! Nice capture of this sweetie :D

One thing I know for sure they are sweet giants to all people.
Only facing another animal [like dog - always much smaller - like mine] they tend to behave a little less friendly.
Of course the main reason is the cowardly agression of the remaining little doggies !!! I know mine hates them half-horses without hooves LOL
