Raj (Ramad) seems to have an encyclopaedic knowledge of butterflies and as I have no knowledge of them other than they are very pretty he is my lifeline when it comes to identifying all my images taken in "The Butterfly Journey" at Chester Zoo.

I will check back to see if Raj identifies this beauty Caruso. I think it could be the Phantom of the Opera. Just a hunch. LOL
Great capture and I like the scene very much. It could also be the Woodpecker Butterfly. Now I am totally confused.

Thanks for giving the retired "old man" something to earn a living Steve. I think this one is called "The Common Windmill" or
Atrophaneura Polyeuctes
. They can be light brown or dark as ahown in the link. See the wing markings. Nice clear shot !

Superb close up of this fellow, beautiful colours and clarity Steve. It's great Raj helped out putting a name to this beauty. I don't have any knowledge of butterflies at all.
