Sutton Hoo near Woodbridge, Suffolk, England, is the site of two Anglo-Saxon cemeteries of the 6th century and early 7th century, one of which contained an undisturbed ship burial including a wealth of artefacts of outstanding art-historical and archaeological significance.

This sculpture is hung above the entrance to the Exhibition Hall and is of an Anglo-Saxon ceremonial helmet found in the excavations.

I like these unusual forms of art. This reminds me of the face ouside the theatre in Canterbury. I dont know how to do a link on here, but if you look on page 12 of my gallery, The Face is made in a similiar way to your Anglo Saxon helmet. Good colour, lighting and angle you have on this Steve. Well done!

Great shot and the information was engrossing. The old lady knew of which she spoke. All around excellent post. It reminds me of the modern goalie hockey masks.
