A tug on The Mersey giving a salute to the three Cunard Queens that were entering the river.

There was an estimated crowd of over 1.3 million on the day. The beach in the background is Crosby beach where the iron statues can be found.

You could get lost in a crowd of 1.3 million! Fantastic capture and a good looking black and white.

Good shot with the crowds on both sides Steve. The event certainly drew enormous crowds.

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

A classic and timeless photo. Could be saluting any of the Cunard's 'Queens', either from this century or the last.

Reminds me of the 4th of July parade on the Detroit river. Good shot!

Long before the white man and long before the wheel, when the dark green forests were too silent to be real. Light foot 1967
