This is The Snowdrop. It's a Mersey Ferry (as in "Ferry Cross The Mersey") and it is in it's new Dazzle design paint. This was designed by Sir Peter Blake (the man who designed the "Sgt Pepper" album cover) to commemorate the Dazzle Camouflage of boats in WWI.
The Snowdrop is seen here battling against quite a stiff wind sailing down the river towards the Pierhead. The chemical works in the background are in Widnes, a small town some 8 miles south of Liverpool.

Nice to see the ICI plant on the horizon, makes such a difference from the usual view of the Mersey.

Steve, think that I'm an old fashioned seaman. If I had approached such a ferry during my active career (1964 - 2001), it would have probably made me confused, even in the Mersey beat time lol.
