This is my first portrait photo I've done with my new camera. I had to bribe my little cousin with $5 to get him to let me practice with him. Tell me what you guys think.

Very good and good model. Next time try with charm, not with bribe. LOL

You're on your way to professional photography Brandon - paying for your models. He He. Colour is good, light is bright without harshness so you picked a good spot to take the shot. BG is not distracting from the subject. Perhaps the subject could be larger in ratio to the image. When you don't have 'lines' or control of the directed lighting and shadows to lead the eye naturally to the subject it pays for them to be more of the image so they dominate the space. Unless you want them dwarfed by the space to make a point of some kind. :) The really powerful portraits tell us something more about the person, their character or personality rather than their externals. It's not an easy thing to do, many great photographers cannot pull it off. Great first attempt mate.

It is not "The powerful attack the weak." it is "The fearful attack what they fear."
