Great shot! As a florist, I don't often get to see echinaceae in its natural form (the petals don't last well once picked, so we use the centre bit on the stem). This is a lovely shot with superb lighting and focus.
Neither, the EOS-1D Mark II does not have either a macro or creative mode. Since it's a professional camera, it just has Manual (M), Flexible Program AE (P), Aperture Priority (Av), and Shutter Priority (Tv). Its up to the photographer to know what settings to use to achieve the right results. I used a 300mm telephoto as opposed to a macro lens, since thats what I had with me at the moment I saw the flowers.
