Me on the ground in Vietnam for a brief summer encampment sortie at the giant airbase. Image is rescanned and uploaded for the newer members who never saw the last version of me lo those many years ago. The film was Kodachrome 100.

Interesting photo. Are those C-130's in the background? A lot of history in this picture, well done.

Thanks, Greg! Yes indeed, those are venerable C-130s. I was part of a MAW (Military Airlift Wing).

You had my respect and thanks back then (even at age 8) and you still do. ;)

Very nice photo of you....

But words are things, and a small drop of ink, falling, like dew, upon a thought produces that which makes thousands, perhaps millions think and smile. Art is everywhere, except it has to pass through a creative mind.

Nothing current for comparison hmmm? Those are some clear, piercing eyes you've got. I don't know if it's the scanning or the good old kodachrome that gives it that moment caught in time feel but this is a good find and thanks for sharing a piece of your history.

Riding around in C-130s? Did a bit of that myself in '71-'72 when I wasn't busy being a REMF. My ears are still ringing and my butt is still numb. Darn, I had hair then too.

You're not at all what I pictured. And I'm surprised at how much personal effect the background image can still have.

Beautiful image, i was in the armee too that year in Germany. I admire the US. soldiers for what they did there and regret the less of good response you all got. You may be proud to have been there. You are a part of the history.

Tracy, you and I have something else in common it appears. I also served during the Viet Nam conflict. However in 1968 I was at Sea on the guided missile frigate USS Mahan.
This image brings back many memories and it is good to make your acquaintance, even if it is from a photo taken oh so many years ago. Where does all the time go?

Yeah, I saw the title and didn't open it. But after you're gracious comment today on "Forever in Fog-feathers" I thought it might be a portrait. I'm glad you made it out. Thanks for the nice comments on my work. Steve

My many thanks to you for your service to our country. I was in boot camp five years later and ready to serve as well. I put in a fantastic 24 years and won't give up a minute of it...around the world a few time. It was true then and true now..."Not just a job...It's an adventure." Thanks again,

Tracy .. My dad was in Da Nang during this time period (i think) .. He came home with all kinds of stories, including being shot at ... Years later somebody told us he ran the officer's club

Nice work if you can get it .. ;o)

Tracy, I was also Air Force and was stationed at Tan Son Nhut and Phu Cat AB, Jan 67 - Jan 68. Left in-country 3 days before the Tet offensive.
Great shot of yourself with the venerable C-130s in the background. Welcome home brother.

Heroes. I lost my best friend not far from there. I can see the stress on your face despite the smile. Glad you made it home.
