Aw, it really does look sad! Still it's a wonderful picture for the emotion that it causes.. everything in the picture is working together to bring the feeling about. Love the depth of field, and the overall hue to the colors. I like it very much!

What great photography on your part to relay the feeling of sadness in this bird. The darkness of the rocks which bring out the feeling of sadness and the crashing of the waves which could represent despair are magnificent in this. I thank you and your friend for this.

Hi David. This is a nice composition. The little guy does look sad :-( Well, it needs just a little work. You've almost got it. The scene is well framed and you've got some nice color and contrast with the bird and the ocean. Now I think it might just need a little fill flash to pull in a bit more detail. A great excuse to get back to the beach dude. Have fun. anne

You might try taking the image into Photoshop CS2 and using the shadow/highlight feature. I usually use it at the default setting (50% shadow reduction) and it really makes a difference. That might save you a trip back to the waves to try to recreate the moment which isn't really likely to happen... It really is a nice shot. Good luck. anne

wonderful! You've learned a lot in all the time you've been posting works here in caedes. This one really shows your talent. the bird is sharp and the dark stone gives a nice contrast to the birdfella. Only thing to complain about is that the sea behind the dark stone is too light. I mean that it gives too much contrast to the dark stone when they both work for backround. That may have been avoided with taking the shot from a different angle so that the dark stone would have covered nearly all of the image... I dunno. But really great work I have to say :)

Good choice of titles. Like how you zeroed in on the bird with just a hint of his surroundings.
