How long did it take you to drag up tree and strip bark off stumps? You also had to totally strip down trees in water. High waters have helped you to create a rather ghostly but beautiful scene. (Hence the title) The light is also helping to create this image. You really did good with the mirror effect. Guess I'll put it in fave. Nice work John.
I love the title, it's so evocative... well, I wrote a poem once about winter trees being like the 'lances of long-dead warriors'... so the title with the picture is special to me.

I've enjoyed the comments that you've teased out of the viewers of this fine post, so I know that I'm not wrong in saying that it's creating quite a stir, and isn't that what art is all about?
"I never looked for it, gave it no name; yet I knew it always, when the gift of peace came. I stood quite still for the moment that it lasted...Then the light shifted slightly and the moment passed, leaving me...with the lasting echo of its presence.." Diana Gabaldon
That wonderful, warm directional light really gives this that beautiful blue and orange punch. Very dramatic landscape. I can see you liked it a lot too as I like your souvenirs of this day.
You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being.

Another great angle of this great scene. The fallen tree in the foreground makes a great frame for the creek. Once again fantastic reflections and great fog. Wonderful work.
Glad to see you went with one more post John, it's such a photogenic place. Once again you've more than done it justice, with the reflections in the water and the beautiful light coming in from the left. Hope I get to visit this place some day.
