It must have been cold there in my shadow,
To never have sunlight on your face.
You were content to let me shine, thats your way.
You always walked a step behind.
So I was the one with all the glory, While you were the one with all the strain.
A beautiful face without a name for so long.
A beautiful smile to hide the pain.
Did you ever know that you're my hero,
And everything I would like to be?
I can fly higher than an eagle,
For you are the wind beneath my wings.
Bette Midler - Wind Beneath My Wings

I would like to hear Joanie sing. Nice thought pattern you have going here John. Some are content to be in the limelight while others prefer to remain in the shadows. Sometimes they don't like to be in the shadows but circumstances have made that decision. Also, there is always someone behind the scene that makes everything possible. It is difficult when you lose that one. Beautiful use of light and excellent post.

I'll meet you at the edge of the sunlight, just behind the shadows. The Ghost

Never fear shadows.
They simply mean there's a light shining somewhere nearby.

Ruth E. Renkel

Again and again John you show us the truth of that statement. I like what Tick said and would take it just one step further - for those that are in the shadows by circumstance look around and realize that the light is usually but a single step away.

I don't think there is anyone better on this site than you you John, at showing us how light and shadow must co-exist and balance each other out.

I love that song. Excellent picture with a good title too. Maybe when the sun moves a little, they will come out of the shadows and into the lime light.

These blossoms are most lovely and delicate. I love the play of light and shadows, and the gorgeously coloured background. The words of Bette Midler and your image have inspired great comments, food for thought. For me, I enjoy both times either in the shadow or the light. Shadow is for resting, light is attention getting and work...

I'm almost ashamed to admit that's one of my favourite songs. I have it going round in my head a lot and have to be careful not to sing it out loud! Again this is a thought-provoking title from your original take on something that caught your eye John.

I so love that song. At first, I thought those might be blueberries, but I see they are lovely little flowers. Pretty shot, John and I like the colors of the background very much too.
