"It is admirable for a man to take his son fishing, but there is a special place in heaven for the father who takes his daughter shopping."
-- John Sinor

"My father used to play with my brother and me in the yard. Mother would come out and say, "You're tearing up the grass." "We're not raising grass," my dad would reply, "we're raising boys."
--Harmon Killebrew

"Fatherhood is pretending the present you love the most is soap-on-a-rope."
-- Bill Cosby

When I visited my son's college, last summer, I saw these two near the pond. I was struck by their enjoyment of the pool and of the day. After a few minutes I noticed they had not moved and that is when I realized they were statues. What a wonderful piece of art for the students to see and pass by each day.

Such a peaceful and beautiful scene John. Love the capture with the father & son and glad it brings back wonderful memories for you and your family.

Sorry I haven't been commenting lately, been very busy doing Skating Competition work and a lot more to do for the upcoming event in mid Feb. So don't worry if I don't comment, but I am viewing.

I don't know how you gave the grass and the water a painting look, but it is beautiful. It's an excellent scene with super colors.

A wonderful place to feature the statue. Very much has the feel of a painting. While I know many college students are very in the now and "me" oriented I know some will take notice as you did.

Excellent shot, narrative and overall post John. Touched my heart strings that is for sure. A very thoughtful thing they did in adding those statues by the pond.

Love every one of the quotes in your description and I just love the image. I did both with my dad, fishing and shopping. Could say I was a bit of a tomboy.

Very good. Thanks soo much for sharing!!

Great work, not only with the shot itself, but the effects are just right. Not over done, and it really looks like a 1800s painting. This has a great feel to it.
