Great perspectiave and composition, John. A powerful view of power.

Caveats?

Well, and I may be in the minority here ... colours are a tad oversaturated in my eyes and humble opinion.

Possible solution, if interested?

Tim; aka timvdb thought to use one image in B & W. If I have that correctly. The layer or image that, in this case, has the highest greens.

Then again, I need coffee. :o|

Just kidding a bit.

Now you have peaked my curiosity as well, single image ... multiple exposures? Time and opportunity permitting and as a suggestion ... perhaps, answer here on your image's page? Not familiar with which HDR imaging you use. And yes ... Curious Les, I am.

That nonsense of mine aside, it is a good shot. Great eye to have spotted this in frame. And but of course, thank you for sharing this one with us. :o)

I created the first exposure in Dynamic HDR, did minor adjustments in CS2, and then re-exposed it in Dynamic HDR for a second time. With both exposures, I performed minor adjustments. I did not record them, as I played around, so I am sorry that I cannot list my movements to you. But, I do thank you Les, and would be very open to any suggestions you would like to make.

Shads joins the ranks of FDR. It is growing daily. Below the dam is great when Waterworld is quiet. But the Costner can be high when the Hopper starts overflowing.
One of my favorite lines for the less then memorable movie was:
Well, I'll be damned. It's the gentleman guppy. You know, he's like a turd that won't flush.
I liked the late Michael Jeter who was in the movie.
Good powerful work Shads.

I like how you did this in HDR ... perfectly composed as the lines of the dam including that water falling carries the viewer in. I do have to agree with Les on the oversaturation part. I have only done a couple images in HDR & this has me inspired to do more. Wonderful work John.

Oversaturated or not, I do like the colors this way. Great job John.

I love your title, and would like to use it as the title of a poem, if that's ok with you. The textures and the drama you show here is really awesome. I like it very much. Verena

Another fine and powerful image John. The HDR really does seem to bring out the bolder colors, which in this case lends to the title even more. Well done.
