I did not take this picture. I scanned it from our local newspaper, back in June of 2004. It was a very sad day. This picture was taken during the funeral of President Reagan. I found it in one of my folders with four other pictures I had also scanned.
"After lying in state for thirty-four hours in the Capitol Rotunda, a state funeral service was conducted at the Washington National Cathedral on June 11, the day when President George W. Bush declared a national day of mourning." ~~ Wikipedia
On the left side (as you view the picture) is President Reagan's family and on the immediate right are four former presidents, President Bush and Vice President Cheney. and other dignitaries.
I wish the picture would have also been able to show the world leaders who were also there. I know that General Secretary Gorbachev and former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher were there in attendance as were so many more.
This is not for the current Nostalgia contest. But, I thought it was very interesting for you all to see.
I see all the branches of the Service are represented.
Nice of you to "Post one for the Gipper."
