Tis a Fearful Thing by Yehuda HaLevi

'Tis a fearful thing
to love what death can touch.
A fearful thing
to love, to hope, to dream, to be -
to be,
And oh, to lose.
A thing for fools, this,
And a holy thing,
a holy thing
to love.
For your life has lived in me,
your laugh once lifted me,
your word was gift to me.
To remember this brings painful joy.
'Tis a human thing, love,
a holy thing, to love
what death has touched.

You always cause us pause to think upon your posts, John. This one - image and narrative - are doing just that. Thank you.

If I could tell the story in words, I wouldn't need to lug around a camera. ~Lewis Hine The Earth without art is just 'eh'.

An impressive abstract and narrative. I too say that the text is rather touching.

John,I like to agree with Thad that your renders and narratives are always a perfect combination. The first ones magnificently created, the latter ones perfectly chosen.
This one confirms what I've just said above!

Your 'Flared' is beautiful - to touch it would be to burn. To turn away is impossible.

The poem - one I know, and it is hard to believe it was written more than 800 years back - grief is grief - then or now, and his words have lived on to comfort.

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust
