Puzzlement and doubt are, however, already crimes in the totalitarian state. The mind that is open for questions is open for dissent. In the totalitarian regime the doubting, inquisitive, and imaginative mind has to be suppressed. The totalitarian slave is only allowed to memorize, to salivate when the bell rings.
Joost Meerloo, The Rape of the Mind: The Psychology of Thought Control, Menticide, and Brainwashing

Thinkers aren't limited by what they know, because they can always increase what they know. Rather they're limited by what puzzles them, because there's no way to become curious about something that doesn't puzzle you.
Daniel Quinn, My Ishmael

The best years of your life are the ones in which you decide your problems are your own. You do not blame them on your mother, the ecology, or the president. You realize that you control your own destiny.
Albert Ellis

I suppose in the end, the whole of life becomes an act of letting go, but what always hurts the most is not taking a moment to say goodbye.

It appears to be floating Shads. You make the difficult look easy. Gotta go, I heard a bell ring and I'm hungry.

With shafts of sunlight streaming past me, I'm looking down into a grotto or huge sinkhole, floored with giant boulders and slabs of stone, interspersed by pools of clear water, some shallow and some the depth of a cave. Your creations always stir the juices in my brain... always a good thing.

A perfect match with your wonderful creation and your intriguing narrative, John.
I was struck by the quote of Joost Meerloo. It's probably a quote from his book 'Rape of the mind'. To me he has hit the nail on its head! It would have been a perfect quote for my North Korean Utopia series as well.
Perfect work (per usual)!.

Edit: thanks John, for editing your narrative by adding the title of the by Joost Meerloo written book.

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

I agree with the comment by Nick (Nikoneer) mentioned above, "Your creations always stir the juices in my brain"... Well, my love of photography is equal to my love of the written word... and John you are a treasure, creativity and philosophy, can't get any better than that. Excellent work here, you have once again blown me away. Superb textures, colors, depth and imagination. Favorite.
