It looks almost like copper Repousee, a technique that uses a hammer and tools, similar to leather-working tools, to relief-impress a sheet of copper from the reverse side to create an image, in this case an angel who's either dancing or expressing the reason for Christmas. The image is really ironic for me, because I have a 5-foot angel in front of my house right now who is standing slightly tilted to the left, arms up to the sides and with a tied bow at her waist, the ends hanging long. She's made of woven strips of a thin, gold cloth, over a strong metal wire frame, and tiny white lights are interspersed throughout her shape. Essentially, she looks just like the image you've crafted here, John. It's uncanny. You don't happen to have images of both a Christmas star and a reindeer that have these same characteristics? If so, then I'm gonna start thinking you moved in across the street from me. Very cool. ;0)
If you've ever wanted to make a difference but found it hard to believe that one person could... check out the Kiva Team Caedes discussion thread and discover that anything is possible.
Nik, the angel who was the model for my picture may just have been related to yours. I have never measured her but all you describe seems to be true with her too. Merry Christmas to you, your angel, star, and of course your reindeer too. :)
My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust
