Yes it conveys an ambiguity, a house of mirrors quality....will I walk into a wall or an open passage....there is a duplicity but that is part of the fun....
John, in sculpture and painting, a janus' head is a head with a face on both the front and the back. It's named after the Roman god Janus, who had two faces in one of his appearances. Your render is a good visualization of this theme. Whether it takes place in an esoteric world, I couldn't determine after reading this article , but I take this for granted. Excellent job anyway!
