Happy Halloween, Everyone !

Tis now the very witching time of night, when churchyards yawn and hell itself breathes out contagion to this world.
William Shakespeare, Hamlet

The Hag is astride,
This night for to ride;
The Devill and shee together:
Through thick, and through thin,
Now out, and then in,
Though ne'r so foule be the weather.
Robert Herrick, The Hag

Lean spectres seemed to spur the wind,
Weird doubts and fancies stormed the mind,
And doubt is fear, and what is fear
But anguish! ‐ “Say! what lurketh near?
Shall our tomorrow cruel prove, or kind? ”
George Houghton, The Witch of York

Halloween II, Gareth Williams

Children of the Corn, Theme

Tubular Bells (Exorcist Theme), Mike Oldfield

Monster Mash, Bobby “Boris” Pickett, The Crypt‐ Kickers

John, by watching the 'Monster Mash' video I thought that Frankenstein had come back to the Earth, (😁).
Halloween isn't that well known, in my country. I'm not sad about that.
Good and appropriate contribution for this Halloween phenomenon however.

A very long time ago my mother received a prize at school - a fine old book - the Complete Works of Shakespeare. Books were few and very precious when I was growing up. The library was my favourite place and when I had nothing else to read it was "Modern Needlework in 600 Pictures" (!!) or the Shakespeare. Shakespeare terrified me with phrases like "Tis now the very witching time of night, when churchyards yawn" and this image and your narrative evokes that time. Worse than that - The Monster Mash is now stuck in my head lol

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

This also brings ^The Wizard of Oz^ to mind, the scene in which our heroes are traipsing through the haunted forest (I^d turn back if I were you!), while the Wicked Witch of the West sends out her legion of winged monkeys to attack.
