John, I think that this 'critter' is wearing a somewhat frightening mask. If not, it's in a bad mood. I think that its wink isn't meant to be a jolly one, 😁 ! Perfectly created render however. The design (colors, shape/patterns, etc.) couldn't be any better. Very fine artwork from you again, 👍 !
If you think you can't accept something, try to change it. But if this doesn't work, don't be frustrated, but give it later another try. The one who perseveres wins!

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust
It appears to be a unique version of the Aztec stone god Tezcatlipoca (pron. tess-cat-lee-po-cah), whose name means "Smoking Mirror", was their god of night and sorcery. While appearing a bit fearful, I'm thinking that "Smoking Mirror" could apply to a sense of mysticism and having a joke at one's expense, hence the wink.
