Look up, and you see things flying
Between the day and the night;
Swallows with spools of dark thread sewing the shadows together.

A circle swoop, and a quick parabola under the bridge arches
Where light pushes through;
A sudden turning upon itself of a thing in the air.
A dip to the water.

And you think:
“The swallows are flying so late! ”

Swallows?
D H Lawrence, Bat

The bat is dun with wrinkled wings
Like fallow article,
And not a song pervades his lips,
Or none perceptible.
Emily Dickinson, The Bat

John, I join me in Sandi's opinion about the quality of your render. Simply another master piece from you. Usually bat's are active a night time. I assume your render visualizes the daily hours. That's why this vampire's blood-soaked eyes don't scare me, 😁 ! Quotes/poems/music links are at the, meanwhile usual, very high level.

Exceptional, even for you. It has a haunting quality that is disturbing and yet appealing at the same time !

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

Many years ago, when we moved into our house, quite a number of bats began to fly at dusk. We couldn't ever find the 'bat cave', but over time they disappeared. Either the home got destroyed, or the mosquito meal was removed by town's annual scourge spraying. Your bat is impervious to sprays and will fly on forever.
