What a wonderful photo of Mt Rainier!! There have been many many of those...that I've seen so often..but I love the way you have shown the mountain in all its glory and the wonderment of the tall evergreens...all against blue skies...just absolutely magnificient! One of the best photos I've ever seen of Mt Rainier...Bravo...and into my favs....thank you so much..verena
What a breathtaking view, lovely overall picture here, I do love the way the trees are almost like a frame against the snow cap mountains in the distance. Great work, fantastic image.
Great view with the trees on the right balancing the mountains peak. You caught a lot of detail in the water peeking through deep in the valley and texture of the near peaks. Great job composing this one.
I would LOVE to do this hike. If only I could get back to the Northwest sometime soon and have the time to make it up there (I'm originally from Portland). I am wondering, however, why the mountain looks so small in this picture. It just looks so much narrower than I remember. Did you stretch it vertically at all? Or is just a different angle from what I'm used to? Something seems weird about it. But great composition. I like the trees in the foreground.
Thanks for all your nice comments. The only thing I did on this image was to adjust the levels a bit in order to bring out the details of the sky (which probably made the trees a bit dark, oh well). Rainier just looks like that from this vantage point. It's a remarkable landmark in that there are so many surrounding places to see it from, and therefore so many different perspectives. There's a common belief here that you could spend a lifetime exploring Rainier and always find something new.
Another wonderful shot. I could go on and on about the composition, the framing, the perspective, etc., but I think it's all been covered by all these other people. So all I can say is "Ditto!"
I love mountain scenery when you get to see the full grandeur of a mountain. The trees in the foreground speak to the amazing beauty of mountain that is easily 10 miles or more in the distance. Nice Work!
