O.k. so that's not what they're really called, lol, but I have no idea what they are. Found them on a bush on a dirt road near my house out here in the boonies. they were about half the size of a pea and covered with a fine white powder. So can someone fill me in here? Comments welcome:) P.S. I'm recovering from a neck injury/condition (don't worry I'm used to spinal problems since I got hurt in the army, lol) so I'm waaaay behind on comments but will catch up as soon as I can.

very pretty berries Jessica! ....so they must be poisonous! ...and will probably eat you if you eat them! lol! lovely capture - the contrast of the bright pink with the green makes them look very beautiful and tempting! I hope you recover from your injury soon - neck problems can be so disabilitating.

Great photo Jessica. These are called Beauty Berries.
They are colorful but not poisonous. They do have a terrible taste and birds and deer won't eat them except as a last resort when all other food is gone. Nice job. Terry

Wow, I learn something new on here all the time and it was so nice of paramedyc to leave that link. Beautiful take on another of Mother Nature's natural decorative touches!

We had something like that in Jersey, when I was a wee kid. We squeezed them and made ink. Whatever they were called I don't know. Anyway, you did a great capture. A must for my desktop.

They look like purple gumballs and I want to pick one and try it out, but that it a no-no. I have no idea what these are, but I am certainly glad that you photographed them and posted them for us to see. I am wonderfing what the flowers looked like. Don't worry about the comments, Jes, we know you're there and we appreciate seeing you whenever you can make it, but just start with the day's posts and forget the others. :) P.S. The image is wonderfully clear and I love that color!

These are Beauty Berries. They grow on a Beauty Berry Bush. Birds love them, so I imagine they are OK for people to eat too. I wouldn't try them, but they were used to dye cloth and yarn in Colonial times.
