I like this composition very much..the water especially looks great, however, when you're aiming into the sun like this, you're going to get some gremlins. I had it in mind to suggest some tricks that I've used in the past, but they wouldn't work here, and I'm going to have to go out into the field and try a few more of these before I can give you any advice.
At any rate, I see what you were going for, but our star ran away with the show.
"I never looked for it, gave it no name; yet I knew it always, when the gift of peace came. I stood quite still for the moment that it lasted...Then the light shifted slightly and the moment passed, leaving me...with the lasting echo of its presence.." Diana Gabaldon
I'd definitely keep the sun burst for use with other photos. I use a fake one in psp software all the time. Due to the dark surroundings, there is just a hint of the beauty around the sun. I'd try using layers of the same photo in graphics software, to lighten the background and keep the sunburst. Definitely worth fiddling with.
This is right up my alley! I absolutely LOVE it! Taking shots into the sun getting that fantastic sunburst and lots of drama all around. And of course, I like darker shots and the effect of shooting the sun. I think you did a fantastic job! What really counts is you getting the shot and the effect that you want! :-) Thanks for sharing!
