I used the halftone filter on a black->white gradient to get the pattern and then I used that layer as a mask for the blue layer.

I came here looking for the Illiterate Penguin Department, but found I actually like the place even though it wasn't my intended destination. Or, at least, it turned out to be a necessary detour between being at my intended destination and being there later.

This really reminds me of some of M.C.Escher's images with the gradual change from corner to corner - foreground becoming background and vice-versa. It's really interesting for all its apparent simplicity.
