Some fractal work and photo manipulation. Milky Way image from ESO/S. Brunier. Gibbous Moon from ESA. geodetic dome stock image. Foreground structure a 3D mandlebox created using FractalLab and edited to create the open view by removing some structures. Manipulation work included applying textures to dome to create subtle glass reflections and also golden ambient reflected light. On the cube, shadows from the dome added and lighting effects to side and back faces to give a greater impression of depth.

Chris, the Borg have arrived and assimilation has begun. Resistance is futile!

I cannot begin to guess how much time and thought you have put into this excellent picture.

p.s. ...and into the series.

Excellent work, Chris. Really like the sci-fi effect. 7 of 9 must be in there somewhere.

I thought "Arrival" was good good.

With.. the passing thought or creative food for thought that adding a star field might provide an assist on the conceptual and dimensionality fronts.

"Dome" now takes the blue ribbon, in my eyes and humble opinion.

Really liking the quality and facet of reflected lighting showing up in the right-hand side/upper quadrant. Underscores your composition overall, very well.

Caveats?

I am guessing that you wrestled with the one element that I am going to make mention of here. That of the dominant celestial body/star.

Looks to me, as if you muted the brightness/luminance ... some.

Suggestion?

If your image editing software allows for the use of layers and in particular, the Blending mode of Soft Light ... duplicate, layer it over ... then, adjust Opacity and/or Fill.

I don't think it will be too prominent, and more so and in short ... brighter might be better. As presented to us, the 'flatness' of that area is a minor detractor. Again, in my humble opinion.

That said..

Really excellent work, Chris.

Nice blending of differing images and software results. Looks like you have a good good handle on Mandelbub.

I do enjoy your visual offering here. And thank you for sharing your creativity with us. :o)

+favs for me.

I love the complexity of this creation. All the elements are intersting & put together so well. Excellent contest entry, Chris ... best of luck.

I really like this; it's not just a random collection of objects, and comes together to make a good scene. I couldn't make out the glass, and I feel that some of the edges of the objects are a little rough and sharp... apart from these quibbles, a good image. Best of luck in the contest!

Just wanted you to know that I am now trying to decide amongst the submitted entries/images and their respective placing in this contest ... and yours is a strong contender.

That said..

Best of luck to you. :o)
