They came, and we were frightened. Then they sent envoys and told us they were here to protect us from the war that was coming because we were special in this part of the galaxy. They bestowed on us technology beyond our wildest dreams. We took their gifts and used them to wage wars of religious bigotry amongst ourselves, killing millions. They pleaded with us to stop and we ignored them, turning the new technology against our protectors. Too late we saw their intent and now I watch my beautiful planet burn in the fires of their retribution.

The reason why the sun sets in the evening is because it wants to see the sunrise in the morning. I rise in the morning because I want to see them both. RvdB

This is just beautiful art! And love that it's 1920x1200, perfect fit with my new monitor. But would love to have a version that doesn't have the black bars along the top and bottom so it fills my entire desktop. :)

Excellent work here. Chilling but oh so true narrative.

A great narrative to go with your image. Great work on the flames and destruction.

A grim day for humanity, but a great day for art. It's apocalyptic and tragic, with a riveting presentation. Very well planned and executed.
