Sorry about the re-post, but the original had a very dull foreground so I livened it up a little. Image credits ESO, SOHO and NASA. I thank the previous commentators, LynEve and Casechaser.

Chris, as much as I liked the first version, I do like what you have done with version two.

Oh my gosh! This looks like it was plucked straight out of a sci-fi movie! Your work is amazing! Great post!

The reason why the sun sets in the evening is because it wants to see the sunrise in the morning. I rise in the morning because I want to see them both. RvdB

THis version is so much more polished (as in glossy) I think it has more immediate impact, and much more heat.
Intriguing, chaotic, and disturbing.

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . This is just beautiful art! And love that it's 1920x1200, perfect fit with my new monitor. But would love to have a version that doesn't have the black bars along the top and bottom so it fills my entire desktop. :)

Intriguing. I have no idea how these pieces are created but I enjoy exploring them. Interesting lighting, seems transparent in places with multiple light sources.

I like this, Very rich and deep. It's difficult for me to tell if your planet is rendered with fire or if the fire is indeed a different layer. Great Work sir.
