I think the hyperfocal nature of this one, and the texture of the waves, just about makes it interesting. The sky has hardly enough texture really, and I think it lets the image down a little. Very little post processing on this, just a red filter on the B&W conversion.

I do like your black and whites, and this is another good examle of a job well done. In my opinion the sky is not a let down, it just draws our eyes to the water all that much more.

Hi, Chris...

First of all I like this posting. I only wish I spoke the same language that you do. You are fluent in photographese and use terminology like "hyperfocal". I'd better take a class so that I understand what a red filter does to a black and white image. I find your narratives very illuminating. After each posting I find myself do an Internet search of the terminology. I'm very proud to add that I did understand the words "sky" and "Texture".

P.S. I don't know if you've gone back to any of your comments on my postings. But I get a lot of "I didn't know that. I learned something new from Chris's comments."

Another great photo from you. What I like about this one is how the low angle of the surf makes the surfer look so small within the waves.

In the voting booth I gave the other one a decent mark and then this beauty burst open in the screen. The amount of life and chaotic movement, I think, is balanced by the smooth, creamy sky not hurt by it. Very rich.
