The lighting is perfect to display each and every flowerhead and the depth of colour pops against the dark background. It is just before the 'crinkly' stage and reminds me of a dried hydrangea arrangement which always seem to look great for others but my attemps just look like a bunch of dead flowers.
My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust
You certainly have a lot of detail in those small pedals with a great deal of clarity, the color looks real nice too. I am not sure what it is but there is something here that seems to make the flower blend with the back ground, perhaps it is the two dark shades together ( back ground and flower) but it doesnt seem to stand out as well as one might think it should. Perhaps that was your intent, I dont know for sure but it is just my opinion. OK I have to correct myself here I was about to paste this comment when I looked at your image again and realized I think it is the shadow or shaded area around the flowers edge that gave me this interpretation. Nice work Chris.
