Photography->Architecture
Those old small workman's houses, in Dutch called 'Hofje onder de Toren' (almshouse beneath the tower) were intended to be pulled down, but after some opposition of the people of Middelburg (the Netherlands) they were converted into small shops, offices and even a small restaurant. The tower I'm talking about is 'De Lange Jan' and can be seen in my gallery.

I'm so glad they were not pulled down. Architecture in towns and cities needs variety in my opinion, so well done to those who objected - and won.

Great to hear they decided to preserve these old buildings rather than destroy them! This is a good angle to take them from Cornelius - it shows them off beautifully - I love the higgledy piggledy windows! patti
