Today I'll start a tour through Veere. Veere is a very little old, but cosy, town upon the Veerse Meer (Lake of Veere) in the province of Zeeland, The Netherlands. The tour starts at the locks of Veere. To me that old gun is not proper 'aimed' as it points into the wrong direction. The few people of Veere have to be glad that the gun nowadays pose no threat any longer, lol.

Thank you! You have composed a lovely scene here and a description to go with it. I for one, am happy you are going to do this and show me, anyway, parts of the Netherlands I have never visited. It is always good to remember the past and be able to move forward safely.

This picture reminded me of the Netherlands right away even before I read your story of it. You tend to see a lot of cannons in the old villages. When I was there I got to light one of those suckers. :-P
Where else are/did you visiting in the Netherlands?

Great photo thanks for the memories.

I think so too Cornelius and I expect the people living in the house opposite are glad it isn't loaded (or is that a museum?). Great capture looking down the barrel of the gun - I took a few like that in the castles in Scotland while I was away. Patti

Oh..good one...when I saw it in the voting booth I said the very same thing. I was hoping that there was no one manning it and that it was not loaded or operable, but I gave it high scores anyway and I'm glad I was able to read your description here !!!!!
