This is the townhall with bell tower of Veere. The townhall was built between 1474 and 1517 while the bell tower was built between 1574 and 1599. Remarkable is that the carillon was placed not earlier than 1735 (24 bells). In 1949 11 bells were added to the carrillon, so consisting now of 35 bells. On top of the bell tower is a weather-vane in the shape of a 16th century warship.

Groet!

How I would love to hear those bells! It must be delightful. Looks a difficult place to photograph - and you have very well!

John (rozem061), I agree with you. I tried to crop this image (to free it from cars), but the result wasn't that good. I couldn't go backwards as well because of a dyke behind me. Because of the limitations of my camera I couldn't give more 'zoom'. You know that Johan Cruyff once said: "Every disadvantage had its advantage: so it stayed in its initial state, in the first place to keep the trees as entourage and on the other hand to give Chris (boremachine) an answer to the question he did before ("Aren't cars allowed in this small town?") (lol). Regards, Cornelius

Well I joined this tour late but here I am in time to see another beautiful old building. Nice shot Cornelius and I wonder if you were fortunate enough to hear the bells?
