This image shows a part of the former Zeeland island Walcheren. Walcheren is now a peninsula as it was in 1871 connected with a dam (the Sloedam) to South Beveland (another Zeeland island) and in 1961 with the Veerse Gatdam to North Beveland (a Zeeland island as well). At Walcheren places like Flushing, Middelburg and Veere are situated. The Middelburg tower 'de Lange Jan' can be seen (at full screen size) at the Horizon.
